About the Event
We will be creating rain barrels in order to help save water and prevent flooding in our communities. You will receive a short presentation on the value of using rain barrels around your house and then be guided through constructing one of your own that you can take him with you that day! All materials will be provided including the barrel, equipment, and tools. If you have your own tools that you would like to use you can feel free to bring them however electric outlet space may be limited. A standard 55-gallon water barrel measures 36” high x 24” wide. The barrel weighs roughly 22 pounds and 55 gallons of water weighs 460 pounds for a grand total of 482 pounds. Please make sure you have a way of transporting the rain barrel after the workshop is over.
Facial masks must be worn at all times. The presentation and construction will take place outside unless there is rain in which case we will move to the barn. There will be a strict cap of 14 participants per session. Cost will be $40 per ticket for which you will receive one barrel. Additional barrels can be purchased at (https://www.sjlandwater.org/event-details/rain-barrel-sale).
